If you can’t cook, welcome!

I never cared about how to cook until I became a mom 5 years ago - actually that’s false. I had to learn how to cook around the age of 10 when I started babysitting my siblings. For some reason, I can only remember burnt pizza going in flame inside a microwave, which my dad came to the rescue, just in time, (both parents worked) and another distinct moment was making French-inspired butter and jelly toasts for my babysitter. Anything after that was blank…but I have the heart and some cooking basics down and I used to help develop recipes for a gluten-free food company which serviced hospitals and customers around the country.

Somewhere out there, there’s a young or old person who can’t boil water. Before my state executed a shelter in place meaning “stay home to stop the spread of the coronavirus” I made sure I was stocked on flour, milk, heavy cream, eggs and butter. I knew my hunger game survival skills were going to kick in. As of yesterday, I’ve cooked from scratch, snacked like crazy and did 3 loads of laundry, prewash the dishes 4 times and unload the dishwasher once. I also wiped down my blinds and I was disgusted! If there’s any positive side to this madness, it’s the gift of time to appreciate and use it wisely.

I created Pantry Living to gather recipes from around the world to document how we’re surviving in modern time. If you want to share or collaborate, use the hashtag #apantryliving. If you need recipe assistance, hit me up. You’ll find super easy recipes that even my 5 year-old can follow. If I’m bored, I’ll come up with more complex recipes that foodies can appreciate. Until then, keep washing your hands and check back!

love,

Caroline

P.S.
As of 3/28, I’m completely out of wheat flour so it’s really time to get creative during this unprecedented moment!
